(More customer reviews)I use this doggie trailer to tote my two cocker spaniels to the beach.They fit in pretty tightly, even though they are smaller than the average cocker.One weighs 20 lbs and the other 24 and they can lie side by side but there is no room between.They are able to get up and turn around and sometimes ride looking out in opposite directions. You will not be able to pull this in soft sand. You might be able to use it on hard sand but I have never tried it.It does add appreciable weight to your ride...you know it is back there. Of course, this is relative to the weight of your pet.If you buy this, put a towel under it when assembling so you do not damage the nylon cover on rough surfaces. This is very expensive but since it is designed for animals, it is what you need.I tried to adapt a child's bike trailer and found that it would not work, especially since it did not have a rigid floor.

(More customer reviews)Maybe 3.5 stars.We have used our new Tailwagon on mountain bike and paved bike trails daily for a week now.Our 6 month old pup jumped out at first (he was able to squeeze through the cover) so we bought one of those dual dog leads, a dog halter, and a D-ring.There are some loops to attach the dog lead inside the trailer.We attached the D-ring between the ring where you would normally attach a leash and the chest part of the pups halter.We adjusted the lead so he was able to move around the trailer a bit, turn around, sit, and lay down.He whined at first so we removed the outer cover which comes completely off, which helped a lot. The kick stand came off during the ride because the bottom clearance isn't adequately high enough for trail riding.The wheels are also not adequately large enough (for trail riding) either...my husband had to get off his bike and lift the trailer a few times.There are some trailers out there with a higher clearance which one might consider if you are biking on trails.The platform the dog sits (or stands) on has no cushion whatsoever.We haven't used the stroller part yet and might not ever but I got the Tailwagon just in case we would, plus I liked that it had a rain shield.After realizing that he hates it with the cover on, the rain shields don't matter anymore-for now anyway (however, the fact that you CAN completely remove it is a bonus).After a week of using it, for our purposes, I think I would buy the Rover or perhaps another brand instead.Overall though, it did the job and our pup was able to go with us rather than stay alone in a unfamiliar place while we were on vacation.I think it is also important to note that we have been satisfied Burley customers for many years.We used the heck out of a kid trailer (through 3 kids)...all said and done, there was no wear and tear and we were able to resell it for just a little less than what we originally paid.

Burley Tail Wagon Bike Trailer Review

(More customer reviews)My wife and I have a 35lb Corgi/Heeler mix that we wanted to bring with on our longer (20+ miles) bike rides. The longer rides are just too much for the poor dog to keep up with (especially with her stubby corgi legs) so something like the Walky Dog Bicycle Leash just wouldn't work (although I am considering getting one to exercise the dog on shorter bike rides).

So, we decided that the best solution would be some sort of a trailer that we can pull behind out bikes. We looked at the much less expensive Solvit trailers (Solvit 62341 HoundAbout Bicycle Pet Trailer, Large) but wanted something solidly built that would last us preferably through this dog and the next one. The Burley Tail Wagon fits the bill perfectly. The construction quality is top-notch, and it looks much better than the other cheaper trailers as well.

Assembling it was very easy, despite the instruction manual being EXTREMELY vague. Our dog is already kennel trained, so as soon as I had the trailer put together she got right in. Hitching it up to the bike wasn't an issue either and within about 30 minutes of taking the trailer out of the shipping box, the dog an I were off on a short 4 mile ride to test out the new setup. Needless to say, the dog LOVED it!

Pulling a trailer behind the bike doesn't affect handling at all, but it does make the bike feel heavier so accelerating is a bit more work. One also has to be mindful of turns and such (just like when pulling a trailer with a car), and make wider turns.

The Burley Tail Wagon offers MANY options in terms of riding configuration, going from completely enclosed, to completely open with everything in between as well. For our first ride, I had the top cover closed so that our dog was completely enclosed - just in case she had any thoughts about jumping out. As she gets more used to it, I think we will be able to ride with the cover open so she can stick her head out. However, even with the cover closed, there is plenty of mesh so that the inside of the trailer never really gets warmer than the ambient temperature.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with our purchase, and I think that spending the extra money on the more expensive but better built Burley trailer was well worth it.

Some extra info:
The bike I use to pull the trailer is a Trek 7.3FX and the trailer works fine with 700mm wheels.

I also think this trailer would work fine for carrying cargo (much like the Burley Flatbed Bike Trailer) since it has a flat, hard floor. So as a bonus to having a trailer to bring the dog with, we also have a trailer that we can take to the grocery store, etc.

(More customer reviews)We have two dogs 12 and 13 pounds and they love riding in their trailer. They can't keep up with our bikes but we like to take them when we go out riding. The DoggyRide trailers are great. There are three models, the "Original" is shown and our "Novel" model is pictured with Barnie and Rockey.There is also a smaller model. They are made in Holland and are very well made.They fold down for storing or packing into the car. Our Novel model holds dogs or loads up to 120 pounds. With our little guys, I hardly know it is there.Our Novel model trailer has a flip down parking stand (keeps it level when not attached to bike), rain flap, two storage pockets in the back, has two D rings inside for attaching restraints. It has a thick pad which fits into a rigid plastic tray with a reinforced frame, instead of the Original model's bottom made of MDF. The pad is easily removed for cleaning.Also it has a top zipper opening for a taller dog to stick their head through.If you have a dog large or small that for some reason could not keep up when you bike or you are uncomfortable with them running along side, but want them to be with you, DoggyRide may be the solution.It can double as a grocery hauler too if you like to ride your bike to the store.Depending on the model, with additional attachments DoggyRides can be converted to Doggy Strollers or Joggers.

(More customer reviews)We bought this for our 13 month old daughter.Several years ago we purchased a bike child seat that attached to the rear of the bike.That was a disaster.Too heavy, akward, and very uncomfortable for the child.So we looked at trailers instead for our youngest.Most of the trailers have two seats, but from what I read and saw in stores, the seats are extremely small and it's not realistic to fit two kids in the trailer together.Plus we only have one kid who isn't riding their own bike.I didn't want to haul around the extra room and weight if the space wasn't needed.

Setup was fairly easy.The instructions to install the hitch to the bicycle are good, and I had it attached within about 15 minutes of setting up the trailer itself.I also bought a second coupling so my wife and I can quickly switch the trailer between bikes.

There is plenty of room for a single child, and strapping my daughter in there was easy.The seat bottom has tension adjusters to keep the trailer bottom from sagging, although there's no way the floor would ever drag.The real beauty of this is once you get your child strapped in and attached to the bike.Unlike the child seat, I had no idea the trailer was behind me.The weight is hardly noticable.The ride is smooth, there is no jerking, it corners naturally, and my daughter sits in the trailer with a huge smile on her face.Some of the bike rides have been lengthy for a one year old - up to an hour, and so far she's never started fussing while being towed around.There is also a small amount of cargo space behind the seat.Enough for a diaper bag or some water bottles.

Overall we're very happy we found this unit.The price and weight were less than the double units, and so far no problems with performance.
