(More customer reviews)I am very happy with this purchase.Items came fast and in good condition.These bearing covers are "interference" fit, in other words they are larger in diameter than the opening they go in.You have to carefully install them, but if you read the instructions and have patience it should not be a problem.Hopefully I will be able to extend the life of the bearings on my boat trailer by using the bearing buddies and will keep them well lubricated.

Bearing Buddy Outer Bearing with Bra, Model 1980 when backed into the water for launching boat trailer wheel hubs are suddenly cooled. Air inside the hubs contracts and a vacuum is created. Water and dirt are sucked into the hubs through the inner seals and corrosion sets in immediately. Bearing failure can be expected within two seasons in fresh water - one season in salt water. When properly installed and maintained, Bearing Buddy prevents wheel bearing failure and eliminates bearing repacking. Boat trailer wheels can be completely submerged. Bearing Buddy also prevents bearing failure on motorcycle, utility, snowmobile, camping, and other trailers by eliminating moisture build-up in hubs and providing proper lubrication. A wheel hub does not have bearing protection unless a slight positive pressure is maintained inside the hub. If pressure is not maintained, water will enter and corrode bearings. (More customer reviews)This is, without a doubt, the easiest bike rack to load/unload bikes.It is also more reasonably priced than the other brands. The only complaint I have is that it doesn't perfectly fit longer wheel-base bikes. We have Electra Townies, and they have a longer than normal wheel base because of the forward pedaling technology (which is awesome, by the way.) The bike shop guy put the rack's rear wheel 'wells' on backwards to accommodate the longer wheel base. That worked fine in my opinion, even though the rear wheels did not sit flat in the wells. We drove our bikes from MI to FL with no problems whatsoever. However, my husband was never comfortable with the wheels not fitting completely in the wells, so we got the Thule DoubleTrack last summer. It is more cumbersome to mount the bikes on the Thule rack, but they fit more secure in DH opinion. And the Thule has additional security features (for an additional cost, of course), so in that regard it's better. But all in all, I really miss the ease the Saris :( but I can 'visit' it down the street at my sister-in-law's house! If you have normal wheel-base bikes, this Saris is by far the easiest bike rack to use.

Allen Deluxe 4-Bike Hitch Mount Rack for Vehicles with Rear Mounted Spare Tire (2-Inch Receiver) Review

(More customer reviews)I was very disappointed to find that this rack does not work with side hinged rear doors. It only works with hatch style rear doors. No where on the packaging or in the manual is this mentioned. I quickly put the rack together (very easy to do so) and was quite pleased at how solid it was. I then put it on my 2006 Hummer H3. So far, so good. Then, I went to test the mechanism that allows the rack to fold down so the rear door can be opened. I folded it down, but was stunned to find that my rear door only opened about 5 inches before hitting the bottom area of the rack (yes--even with the rack folded down). Surely, I thought, I must have installed it incorrectly. But, I hadn't. I then called Allen, and spoke to someone there who very readily admitted that the fold-down mechanism does not function well with side hinged rear doors. Oddly, he wouldn't admit that the rack is useless for such vehicles because "technically, the rack still works--you can put bikes on it". He suggested that I carry around a pair of 3/4 inch closed wrenches, and "simply take the rack completely off when the rear door needs to be accessed". I thought he was kidding, but he wasn't. Of course, this is not a viable solution. Oddly enough, the folks at Allen decided to use an image of a vehicle with a side hinged rear door on the box. You can actually just look at that picture and see that the rack would not work with that vehicle.

I would have given this product one star, but added a star to reflect its strength and the ease at of putting it together.

About Allen Bike Racks
In 1967, after a few years of working on the aerospace technology for the Apollo missions, Dick Allen was out of a job. Government cutbacks led Allen, a Harvard-trained physicist, to transform his garage hobby into a new industry. A cycling enthusiast, inventor, and family man, Allen had a personal need for a bike-carrying device. On weekends, he would take his sons and wife to Cape Cod or the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Super Bow Roller Review

(More customer reviews)When I received this product, it was not what I expected. The diameter of the roller is about 4 to 5". It's twice the size of my factory (stock) roller. Ok, no big deal...should work fine and it cradled the boat nicely except:
After one trip to the lake (about 5 miles), I unloaded the boat only to find that the roller has flat areas on it now. It's as if the hull of my boat was like sand paper. This roller is not going to last. Obviously the material is not rubber-like. It must be made of a soft plastic that is susceptible to wear.
Don't buy it. Consider buying a roller that is more durable and rubbery.
